The Village Clerk is appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees and performs duties as required by State Statute and Village Ordinances. The Elk Grove Village Clerk’s Office operates as the municipal public information resource center serving the entire community, including residents and all municipal departments.
The Village Clerk is the custodian of the Village seal and keeper of the Village records and is responsible for attending meetings of the Village Board to record minutes. The Village Clerk attests to all Resolutions and Ordinances approved by the Village Board and maintains the Village Codes and official documents. In addition, publishes all Legal Notices and Public Hearings arranged before the Village Board, Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals and records and files necessary documents with Cook and DuPage Counties.
The Elk Grove Village Clerk is also the Freedom of Information Officer for the Village. It is the responsibility of the Freedom of Information Officer to accept, document and process all Freedom of Information requests submitted to the Village.
Voter registration, information on election laws and location of polling places is available at the Clerk’s office. The Village Clerk serves as the Local Election Official and Deputy to the Cook County Voter Registration Officer and certifies election petitions for referenda and candidacy for elected Village offices.
The Village Clerk accepts and processes Liquor License applications, Solicitor applications and Tag Day requests, Raffle License requests and Petitions for Annexations, Rezoning, Special Use, Variations and Subdivisions.
