Lock Your Doors to Prevent Crime
Elk Grove Village and surrounding communities have experienced recent burglaries to motor vehicles as well as vehicle theft. While these crimes aren’t anything new, you might be surprised to learn that most burglaries involving vehicles have no forced entry.
Unlike what is portrayed on television and in the movies, kicked in doors, pulled locks, and smashed windows are not the norm. The thief prefers to work in the quiet and will walk down entire blocks looking for an open car door instead of just breaking glass. Recently, vehicles have been burglarized or even stolen because they are left outside running, not locked, and have valuable items exposed in plain sight. This is largely avoidable because you play a crucial part in securing your property!
Click here to visit the Village website for additional tips b to help reduce your vulnerability to burglary and theft.
